Today, an important delegation from the Korean city of Gwangju paid a visit to our FISU HQ to officially present their bidding dossier to Mr Eric Saintrond, the FISU General Secretary. As you probably know the city of Gwangju is one of our candidates for the organisation of the 2013 Summer Universiade. The attribution of the games will be held in Brussels at the end of May and Gwangju is the first city to become officially "Candidate City". 오늘, FISU본부에는 한국의 광주광역시 유치대표단이 FISU 사무총장에게 공식 입찰서류를 제출하기 위한 중요한 방문이 있었습니다. 아마도 아시겠지만.. 광주시는 2013개최후보지 중 한곳입니다. 최종 개최지선정은 5월31일에 있을 예정이고, 광주시는 공식적으로 개최후보지가 된 최초의 도시입니다. Conducted by Mr Park Kwang-Tae, the mayor of Gwangju, the delegates were very happy to be in Brussels and to present the candidature of their city. Mr Park introduced all the members of his team and made a very interesting speech about his city an about the way he would like to host our Universiade. Located in the southwest region, Gwangju is the focal point for culture and education in Korea, and is the home of 16 colleges and universities with a total of 58 institutions for tertiary education. Blessed with a beautiful natural environment and a soft climate, Gwangju is an ideal location for sports events . 박광태시장을 비롯한 대표단은 브뤼셀에 함께 온 것과 개최 후보지가 된것에 대해서 매우 기뻐했습니다. 박시장은 대표단을 소개하고, 그의 도시와 어떻게 유니버시아드를 개최할 것인지에 대해 매우 흥미로운 연설을 했습니다. 대한민국의 남서부지방에 위치한 광주는 16개의 대학과, 58개의 고등교육기관이 있는 문화와 교육의 중심지이고, 천혜의 자연환경과 온화한 기후를 가진 스포츠 이벤트를 위한 이상적인 지역임을 알게되었습니다. Of course, the Mayor and all the delegates presented all the necessary documents requested in our requirements. FISU will send there an evaluation Committee very soon to inspect all the sport venues and the accommodation facilities. 물론, 박시장과 대표단은 우리의 요구사항대로 모든 필요한 서류를 제출하였습니다. FISU는 스포츠 경기장과 숙박시설을 조사하기 위해 신속하게 평가단을 보낼 것입니다.
Mr Eric Saintrond, the FISU Secretary General thanked all the Delegates and underlined the fact that FISU is always very pleased to work with Korean people. Indeed, Korea organised already two exceptional Universiades: one in both cities of Chonju and Muju for the 1997 Winter Universiade and another one in Daegu for the Summer Universiade in 2003.
